Samsung appears to be getting closer to refreshing the affordable end of its smartphone lineup, with three upcoming Galaxy models now surfacing in another certification-style listing.
The Samsung Galaxy A08, Galaxy M08 and Galaxy F08 have appeared on Google’s Play Console supported devices list, adding to the evidence that the company is preparing a new generation of entry-level Galaxy phones.
According to SammyGuru, the Galaxy A08 is associated with model number SM-A085F, while the Galaxy M08 and Galaxy F08 carry SM-M085F and SM-E085F, respectively. All three devices are reportedly connected to the same internal “a08” codename.
That shared identifier is particularly interesting because it suggests Samsung could once again build several of its affordable Galaxy A, M and F series phones around closely related hardware.
These Appear to Be 4G Galaxy Phones
One of the most important details from the listings is connectivity.
The models currently surfacing are associated with 4G/LTE versions rather than dedicated 5G variants. That would position the Galaxy A08, M08 and F08 toward the more affordable end of Samsung’s smartphone portfolio.
This is also not the first indication that the three phones are approaching launch.
91mobiles previously reported spotting the SM-A085F/DS, SM-M085F/DS and SM-E085F/DS model numbers on India’s Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) database.
A BIS appearance does not reveal when a smartphone will go on sale, but certification in India is another indication that Samsung may be preparing these models for the country.
Samsung has yet to officially announce the Galaxy A08, Galaxy M08 or Galaxy F08, so launch dates and India pricing remain unknown for now.
Galaxy A08 Could Get a Bigger Battery
Regulatory documentation has provided a few additional clues about the Galaxy A08.
According to Gadgets 360, FCC documentation linked to the Galaxy A08 points to a battery with a rated capacity of 5,830mAh.
Samsung could therefore market the phone with a typical capacity of around 6,000mAh, which would represent a substantial battery for an affordable Galaxy device.
A larger battery could become one of the phone’s biggest selling points, particularly for users who prioritise long runtime for messaging, video streaming, social media and other everyday tasks.
The same regulatory information reportedly references Samsung’s EP-T1510 power adapter, indicating 15W wired charging during certification testing.
Other connectivity features appearing through regulatory documentation include LTE, Bluetooth and dual-band Wi-Fi.
What About the Processor and Cameras?
There are already additional specifications circulating online for Samsung’s upcoming budget phones, but these should be treated carefully.
Details surrounding the processor, display, RAM, storage and camera hardware have not yet been officially announced by Samsung.
That distinction is important with unreleased smartphones. Certification databases can provide useful clues about areas such as battery capacity, connectivity and model numbers, while leaks involving complete specification sheets can change before a device reaches retail shelves.
For now, the safest conclusion is that Samsung is developing new affordable Galaxy A, M and F series models, with multiple regulatory and device-list appearances suggesting development is progressing.
Three Names, Similar Hardware?
The shared “a08” codename raises another interesting possibility.
Samsung has previously used closely related hardware across phones sold under its different budget-focused Galaxy families. The company can then differentiate individual models through design changes, memory configurations, cameras, battery specifications, software features or sales channels.
The Galaxy A08 could serve as the more widely available model, while the Galaxy M and F series traditionally have a strong online presence in India.
However, it remains unclear how much Samsung intends to differentiate the Galaxy A08, M08 and F08 this time.
The final retail specifications will determine whether these are essentially variations of the same underlying device or whether Samsung introduces more substantial differences between them.
Why New Affordable 4G Phones Still Matter
At first glance, introducing new 4G smartphones when India’s 5G network continues to expand might seem unusual.
But price remains a major consideration at the entry level.
As SpecFront recently covered in our report on why cheap 5G smartphones are becoming harder to build in India, rising component and memory costs can make it more difficult for manufacturers to deliver capable 5G hardware while maintaining extremely low retail prices.
For consumers shopping at the lowest end of the market, 5G connectivity may also be less important than battery life, display quality, storage, software support and overall reliability.
That leaves room for affordable 4G devices, particularly if manufacturers can use the savings to improve other parts of the hardware or keep prices low.
Samsung’s continued development of LTE models therefore makes sense for markets where entry-level smartphones still account for an important portion of sales.
Samsung Hasn't Confirmed a Launch Yet
The latest Google Play Console appearance does not give us an official release date, but it adds another piece of evidence that Samsung’s next budget Galaxy phones are moving closer to launch.
The Galaxy A08, Galaxy M08 and Galaxy F08 have now surfaced through multiple channels ahead of their official introduction, including Indian certification information and Google’s supported-device listings.
The next details to watch will be Samsung’s official launch date, India pricing, processors, RAM and storage configurations, along with confirmation of whether the expected larger battery is shared across all three models.
Until Samsung makes its announcement, specifications beyond those supported by regulatory or device listings should still be treated as preliminary.
If Samsung can combine competitive pricing with strong battery life and sensible everyday hardware, these new Galaxy phones could remain relevant even as 5G continues moving further into India’s budget smartphone segment.
