Google is giving Pixel users more control over how Android looks and works with its latest quarterly beta.
Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3 is now rolling out to compatible Pixel devices, bringing customizable Quick Settings layouts, expanded Dynamic Color options, new blur effects and stronger protection against call-forwarding scams.
The update arrived on August 14 and is one of the biggest releases in the Android 17 QPR2 beta cycle so far, according to 9to5Google.
Quick Settings Gets More Flexible
One of the most noticeable changes is a new way to organize Quick Settings.
Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3 lets Pixel users change the arrangement of major elements inside the panel instead of being locked into Google's default layout.
Users can choose how the brightness slider, Quick Settings tiles and media player are positioned, with multiple layout combinations available.
It may sound like a small change, but Quick Settings is one of the most frequently used parts of Android. Giving users more control over its layout makes the interface easier to adapt to individual preferences.
The beta also fixes an issue where opening the notification shade or Quick Settings could cause visual corruption and, in some cases, an unexpected restart.
Dynamic Color Gets More Personal
Google is also expanding Android's visual customization.
Dynamic Color now offers deeper theming controls, allowing Pixel users to fine-tune the appearance of the interface beyond simply choosing one of the colors generated from a wallpaper.
The latest build also expands translucent blur effects across parts of the Pixel interface, including the lock screen.
Together, these changes make QPR2 feel more like a visual refinement of Android 17 rather than a simple collection of bug fixes.

Google Adds Protection Against Call-Forwarding Scams
The most important addition may actually be one users won't notice during normal use.
Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3 introduces new restrictions designed to make call-forwarding fraud more difficult.
Google now restricts standard apps from silently executing call-forwarding USSD codes in the background using only the normal phone permission.
If a user manually enters a call-forwarding code in the system dialer, Android can also display an additional confirmation dialog before the command is executed.
The change is designed to reduce social-engineering attacks where scammers convince victims to enter codes that secretly redirect incoming calls.
Regular non-call-forwarding USSD functions, such as account checks and supported mobile-money operations, aren't affected by the new restriction.
Beta 3 Also Fixes Battery Health Warnings
There are practical bug fixes too.
Google says Beta 3 fixes an issue where the Device Health and Support tool could incorrectly warn users that their battery capacity had degraded.
That could be particularly useful for testers who received alarming battery-health messages even when there wasn't actually a problem with their device.
Which Pixel Phones Can Install It?
Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3 system images are available for a wide range of supported Pixel devices, starting with the Pixel 6a and extending through newer Pixel generations, along with the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet.
The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro aren't included in the current QPR2 beta lineup.
Users with compatible devices can receive the update through Google's Android Beta Program, although this remains pre-release software.
For anyone using a primary phone, waiting for the stable QPR2 release is still the safer option.
Android 17 QPR2 Beta 3 shows that Google's next quarterly update isn't focused on one headline feature. Instead, it's improving several everyday parts of Android at once — more customization, a more polished interface, useful bug fixes and stronger protection against scams.
